ARPINO
Architectural Research through Production, Investment, and Neo-Network Operations
ARPINO operates as a design–build laboratory, synthesizing technology and design into a single apparatus for producing architectural interventions that expand the conditions of human progress. The studio aims to question traditional models of making architectural space through the bespoke manufacturing and custom assembly of building elements. This process of design, development, and assembly is informed by research within the domains of real estate development, digital fabrication, sustainability, and computational design.
ARPINO is an acronym, a mission, and a point of departure. Rooted in the legacy of Arpino, the mountain village where Roman stonemasons pioneered early methods of stone craft, the name embodies a dual heritage of tradition and reinvention. Today it serves as an emblem for a renewed role of the architect as master-builder: one who engages simultaneously with form, fabrication, and the assembly of building systems. By operating across fields of investment, design, and fabrication, the studio is able to create and question not only architecture, but also the economic and environmental frameworks within which it emerges.
Recently the studio has been engaged in utilizing structural optimization and digital fabrication strategies to revive regional cultural aesthetics while saving material expenditures.
